The Cabo de Gata - Nijar Natural Park is a 30km long coastal strip along the Costa Blanca, made from a sub-desert mountain range which has produced some of the most wonderful beaches and coves in Spain. The park covers some 38,000 hectares of land and another 12,000 hectares of which is under water. There are about 3,500 inhabitants in the area.
The quality and variety of its collection, which includes many of the greatest works of El Greco, Ribera, Murillo, Goya, Titian and Rubens, make the Prado Museum one of the richest museums in the world.
The castle at Almodóvar stands in a strategic position, 22km south east of Cordoba, at a height of 252m on top of a hill called Cerro de la Floresta. It occupies a total area of 5,600 square metres. From a distance the castle looks very impressive and dominating.
One of the attractions that has to be visited in Benalmadena, is the Sea Life Centre which is located next to the marina. One of the first attractions on the agenda as you enter is the tank containing the stingrays. One of the startling things about this display is the closeness of the fish. It is also possible to obtain food which the fish will take from your fingers.
The Doñana National Park is the largest National park in Spain and one of the most important in Europe. The 50,720 hectares of protected land is located within several provinces of southern Spain. The park consists of several unique ecosystems benefiting from the mild climate. The park is home to many important plant species and a wealth of wildlife. Many rare birds migrate here.
Italica was founded in the year 206BC by General Publius Cornelius Scipio as a place of settlement for soldiers wounded in the battle of Illipa. It also served as an important military outpost. The name Italica gave reference to the first settlers who came from Italy.
